The Boston Celtics currently have the best record in the NBA, a position that should stand heading into the playoffs.

They have consistently outplayed their opponents during the season, making for quite the dominant year.

One of the biggest reasons for the Celtics’ success to this point in the season was their offseason addition of Jrue Holiday.

Holiday is not only another scoring option for this team, but his lockdown defense and veteran leadership have helped this team get to the next level.

While trading for Holiday has impacted the Celtics in a meaningful way on the court, they did have to trade away a fan-favorite in the process.

The Celtics traded away Robert Williams III to the Portland Trail Blazers as a part of this deal.

Williams was a first-round draft pick by the Celtics in 2018 and, to this point, had spent his entire career with the team.

When the Trail Blazers came into town on April 7th, the team wanted to put together a tribute video of him, which Williams declined, according to a Celtics official via Adam Himmelsbach.

Williams seemingly wanted to come back to Boston in peace rather than the team putting together significant fanfare in his honor.

One reason for this could have been the fact that Williams didn’t play in this matchup, as he has only appeared in six games all season due to injury.

Fans might have been frustrated or sad to not see a video of Williams’ Celtics highlights, but knowing this should ease their minds about the situation.
