This has been a very challenging season for Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors.
He has posted some of the lowest numbers of his career and has consistently had difficulties on the floor.
Speaking with Draymond Green, via SplashBrosMuse on Twitter, Thompson opened up about this season and his upcoming free agency.
He openly admitted that he has experienced problems this year and said those did affect him.
But he said that he has recently stopped worrying about free agency, his numbers, his age, or what he is or is not doing during games.
Instead, Thompson is attempting to appreciate the work it took to get to this point and have some fun.
Klay explains why he’s trying not to think about the future free agency:
“…That’s the beauty of the game right there, not tryna get a max deal or another endorsement but appreciating all the work I took to get here”

Free agency has been looming over Thompson’s head all season long.
He wasn’t able to work out a deal with the Warriors during the summer and could be entering the NBA market in the offseason.
The idea of Thompson possibly leaving the Warriors is a big one and it would be a massive change that would shake up the NBA world.
But it sounds like he has made peace with that possibility and is trying to enjoy his career at this age.
Thompson is grappling with not being able to perform like he wants to, something that happens to many stars as they grow older.
Those issues can get inside someone’s head and make matters even worse, which Thompson admits happened to him.
He said that Green was one of the people who helped him overcome those problems.
Now his mind isn’t so clouded with free agency possibilities and physical limitations.
He is playing to have fun and enjoy the legacy that he has created, no matter what happens next.
