Last week, after much speculation about Bronny James’ immediate future, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James announced that he would be entering the 2024 NBA Draft but would also enter the transfer portal and keep his eligibility to return to college basketball.

With Bronny not exactly lighting up the scoreboards on a nightly basis for the University of Southern California, some have wondered if he’d ever be able to get to the NBA level and, if so, if he would make an impact or become a player that never sees any time on the basketball floor.

Even though he was a bench player on a team that struggled during this past season in college basketball, it appears James is getting some draft buzz, with some claiming he could get drafted because he’s a capable defender.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Bronny is already a player who can make an impact defensively on the NBA level, via NBACentral.

“When I talk to NBA teams, there’s a clear consensus that as a defender, he’s already at that caliber of an NBA defender,” Charania said.

At this point in time, it is tough to say whether Bronny is getting this kind of recognition because he might be able to draw his father to the team that drafts him or if he can truly play defense at a high level.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the James family this summer and where the potential father and son duo might be playing during the 2024-25 campaign.
