For years, NFL fans have always had something to say about the referees and how star teams and players get all calls to go in their favor.
That used to be the talk around Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, and he’s passed that torch to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The fans seem to believe the referees constantly favor the Chiefs.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see three-time Pro Bowler S Donte Whitner claim that the refs helped the Chiefs win the Vince Lombardi trophy this season.
Talking to Kay Adams for her Up & Adams Show, Whitner claimed that the tape shows just how much the referees favored the Chiefs, stating that there were some blatant hugs that went uncalled.
“When we think about the Super Bowl… the 49ers played against the refs as well,” Whitner said.

Per Whitner, the San Francisco 49ers had to play against the referees as well.
Of course, that’s a major accusation, and it takes more than the eye test to make it, but Whitner surely knows more about football than the average fan.
Whether that’s the case or not is not for us to decide or debate.
Now, the Chiefs will strive to win three in a row, and all eyes will be on them and the referees more than ever.
