It’s always encouraging to see a coach keeping his best players in the loop throughout free agency and the draft process, as it helps establish a strong working relationship and a trust that carries over on the field.
John Harbaugh is doing exactly that with his two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and a new report has detailed exactly what that looks like for the Baltimore Ravens.
Analyst and podcaster Sarah Ellison shared some quotes from Harbaugh about what input Lamar has given on drafting wide receivers, to which he replied, “we talked right after the season about the type of guy, the type of role that he thought would fit. We were all on the same page with that part of it.”

Harbaugh added, “But it doesn’t always work out that way, so Lamar has been tasked, over the text world, with a couple of assignments. He looks at guys on tape, and he’s never been shy about giving his opinion on free agents or the draft.”
It sounds like Jackson hasn’t been a huge part of the process just yet, but he will be, and his opinion is absolutely valued by the front office and coaching staff.
Baltimore has mostly the same wide receiver room that it did last year aside from losing Odell Beckham Jr. to free agency, with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor currently the top three WRs on the roster.
More receiver help would certainly help Baltimore finally get over the hump and make a Super Bowl with Lamar, and with the 30th pick in the draft, they could have a shot at a real game-changer.
