The Miami Dolphins have been a team on the rise in the NFL over the past couple of years, as the storied franchise has finally found the right man for the job to lead this team on the sideline as well as the right player to lead them on the field under center.
Head coach Mike McDaniel has done a great job of turning things around for the Dolphins, with Miami becoming one of the most unstoppable offenses in the NFL led by Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert.
Although the Dolphins have been firing on all cylinders since the arrival of McDaniel, there are still some questions about Tagovailoa and whether he’s the kind of quarterback that can get over the hump and lead this team to a Super Bowl title.
Tagovailoa has played like one of the best quarterbacks in the league over the last couple of seasons, but John Middlekauff believes the team should hold off on giving him a lucrative long-term contract and give him a “prove-it year” to see if he can truly earn it, via The Volume.
“Let’s kind of do a prove-it year — a little [Joe] Flacco style,” Middlekauff said.

Although Middlekauff makes a decent argument, the Dolphins will likely do right by Tagovailoa and sign him to a new deal sooner rather than later, making him the franchise quarterback for many years to come.
However, it still remains to be seen whether he can be the winner the team needs him to be in order to take the next step as a contender.
