The Phoenix Suns just got a major reality check.

They were outscored 37-10 in the first quarter of their loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, and that’s with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard missing the game.

That’s why sports analyst Craig Carton has little to no faith in their ability to make a deep postseason run.

Talking on The Carton Show, he stated that it was evident that the Suns weren’t going to go far despite having three generational scorers like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant, and a new coach in Frank Vogel.

“Kevin Durant’s NOT that guy.”

He believed that they wouldn’t be able to overcome their depth issues by just outscoring everybody else.

But more than that, he thinks that Kevin Durant isn’t the kind of guy who could lead a team the distance.

He stated that as great a player and a scorer as he is, he’s never been ‘that guy.’

That’s been a common narrative when talking about the two-time NBA champion.

He did lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA Finals with James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka by his side, but to no avail.

Then, he’s failed to find success since he left the Golden State Warriors, and that has obviously taken a big toll on the narrative around him.

The Suns are now the No. 7 seed in the West.
