Last year, longtime Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins went down with a season-ending Achilles injury that many believed might result in the end of his NFL career, with him being 35 and on the verge of hitting NFL free agency.
Although Cousins is a talented quarterback who has had a long career in the league up to this point, the Achilles injury, which has ended many careers in many different professional sports, was thought to possibly trigger retirement or lack of interest on the free-agent market.
However, the complete opposite has happened, with Cousins making a full recovery from Achilles surgery and hitting free agency, resulting in the Atlanta Falcons ultimately coming to terms on a long-term contract of $180 million.
The deal Cousins signed took many by surprise, and quite a few people praised his agent for consistently getting him paid during his career.
One former player who wasn’t happy about Cousins’ deal was former NFL MVP Cam Newton, who vented his frustration about it to Shannon Sharpe on “Club Shay Shay.”
“If you give Kirk Cousins my resume, he probably would’ve got more,” Newton said. “But I’m tripping, but I’m bitter, but I’m mad. I’m not. I’m just exposing the truth.”

Even though Newton is seemingly disappointed with how his career wrapped up, the fact is that Cousins is the definition of consistency in the league despite not being able to have a lot of success in the NFL playoffs.
The same could be said for Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, who hasn’t won anything but still continues to get paid.
