Analyst Names The ‘Biggest Mystery’ In 2024 NFL Draft

The New England Patriots could create chaos in the first round of the NFL Draft.

While most people expect them to take a quarterback with the No. 3 pick, they haven’t fully committed to that idea.

That’s why Benjamin Solak of The Ringer believes they’re the biggest mystery in the upcoming edition of the draft.

Talking to Kay Adams for her Up & Adams Show, he pointed out that while the Washington Commanders still don’t know which quarterback to take, they’re definitely taking a quarterback, with Jayden Daniels as the likeliest choice.

As for the Patriots, they have an entirely new brass, a new GM, a new head coach, and a new scouting department.

And while they have hinted at the possibility of taking a quarterback — with Drake Maye as the likeliest option — it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see them either trading down or taking a wide receiver — most likely Marvin Harrison Jr. or Malik Nabers — instead.

The Patriots aren’t in a position in which taking a single player will turn their franchise around, so stacking up assets by trading back from No. 3 would make sense.

It would also make sense to get a generational talent like Harrison if they feel good about him, allowing Jacoby Brissett to be a stopgap at quarterback while they pursue someone else in the following draft or in free agency.

Whatever the case, the fact of the matter is that the Patriots have been tight-lipped about their intentions, and we have no sample size to assess what they’ve done in the past because Bill Belichick is no longer calling the shots.
