After the New York Jets acquired superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers, the storied franchise immediately became a legitimate Super Bowl title contender, with many believing the four-time NFL MVP was the missing piece to the championship puzzle in the Big Apple.

Unfortunately, disaster struck in Week 1 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, with Rodgers going down with a season-ending Achilles injury, which ended all the talk about the Jets being a title contender in the AFC.

Although there was much doubt about Rodgers’ immediate future due to the severity of the injury at an advanced age, the veteran quarterback let it be known that he was determined to return and play for the Jets.

With Rodgers making a full recovery from the Achilles injury, the one-time Super Bowl champion will try to bounce back next season, but he recently admitted that the injury scared him enough that he thought his playing career might be over, via Around The NFL.

“I was really thinking, ‘This is it. You don’t come back from this injury,’” Rodgers said.

Fortunately for Rodgers, Achilles injuries aren’t considered career-ending injuries for professional athletes the way they used to be a decade or so ago.

Along with Rodgers, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins is recovering from the same injury and recently signed a massive deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

That said, there’s still hope Rodgers can be a game-changer for the Jets and that New York can return to title-contending status for the 2024 campaign.
