Rick Pitino spent years around the New York Knicks organization, first as an assistant coach and then as the head coach for two seasons.
He learned a lot about the team and its fanbase during that time.
He has remained a fan since and is very happy with what he is currently seeing from the Knicks.
On Friday morning, he took to Twitter to celebrate the team’s recent success, saying, “I’m blown away with what the @nyknicks are accomplishing. Teamwork, discipline, coaching, and an insatiable desire to win. Also doesn’t hurt having this years MVP! Go Knicks!”

Pitino’s tweet is obviously suggesting that the team’s star player, Jalen Brunson, should be MVP this year.
He has every reason to be very impressed by Brunson, who is averaging 28.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
Ever since coming to the team, Brunson has tied New York’s chemistry together and made them much more competitive than they have been in years.
That being said, Pitino also shouted out the rest of the Knicks for their dedication to teamwork, discipline, coaching, and an “insatiable desire to win.”
That goes beyond what Brunson is doing and the whole team has been looking better this season.
But do they have what it takes to go all the way through the playoffs?
The Knicks have a habit of relying on Brunson a lot, perhaps too much, in important games.
Will that end up being a problem for them in the very competitive playoffs?
Pitino isn’t the only person blown away by the Knicks this year but no one wants to see this impressive season end in a lackluster playoffs.
