The NBA playoffs are right around the corner and certain teams are rising above the rest and in the best position to surge far into the postseason.
On Friday’s “First Take,” Harry Douglas listed the top-five teams in the league before the playoffs.
He listed the Oklahoma City Thunder in the fifth spot, followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, and finally the Denver Nuggets.

This list isn’t too surprising considering these are statistically several of the best squads in the league.
However, some people may be surprised to see the Nuggets above the Celtics considering Boston has the best record in the NBA.
They might also be shocked to see Douglas put the Mavericks above the Timberwolves and Thunder.
But the Nuggets have something that this Boston team does not: a championship win.
Denver might have an advantage over the Celtics because they are the reigning champions and know what it takes to win a title.
That being said, the Celtics are still a greatly feared team and many people predict this could be their year.
The Mavericks have been surging lately but can they turn a strong regular season into a great postseason?
Their biggest test is about to begin when they face the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.
As for the Timberwolves and Thunder, they have a lot to prove.
After years of being called too young and too inexperienced, they have put together strong and consistent seasons.
They are ready to show the world that they shouldn’t be counted out.
These five teams all have very interesting storylines worth following as the playoffs begin but only one of them can be champions.
