The upcoming edition of the NFL Draft is going to be an exciting and rather unpredictable one.
Things change all the time, especially near the top, but this time might be even more evident.
We could have as many as six quarterbacks taken in the first round, with four of them likely going in the top five.
That includes J.J. McCarthy, who has been the most notorious riser on this year’s draft boards, getting more and more love and attention as the weeks go by.
Still, the narrative around him was that he was an average quarterback with a low ceiling, mostly because his numbers in college weren’t that impressive.
That’s why former NFL QB Robert Griffin III went out of his way to dismiss that narrative once and for all.
JJ McCarthy is a winner and has shown he can do what the other QBs in this draft class can do despite not being asked to do it a lot at @UMichFootball. NFL execs have told me they love that he spent 3 years in an NFL structure under Jim Harbaugh

Talking on his podcast, he pointed out that McCarthy is a guy who’s won at every level he’s played, stating that he’s not overrated by coaches and scouts; he’s actually underrated by the fans.
Griffin claimed that the tape shows that it’s not like McCarthy can’t do what other quarterbacks did in college; he just wasn’t asked to do it very often.
Still, scouts and executives love the fact that he spent three years in an NFL-like environment and structure by playing for Jim Harbaugh.
On top of that, he made big play after big play when asked to, so it’s not like he hasn’t proven himself either.
McCarthy continues to rise and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go as high as No. 4, so he’ll have plenty of eyes on him early on in his career.
