The Boston Celtics are the only team on the final day of the 2023-24 NBA season not sweating the standings as they’ve held onto the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference the entire year.

Boston has been by far and away the best team in the regular season and is the favorite to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

The Celtics are a dominant force on both ends of the floor and employ the best starting five in the league.

Led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Boston’s also got a great supporting cast that includes Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jrue Holiday.

Holiday in particular has been the glue for the starting group as he simply makes plays on both ends and keeps the team on schedule.

The Celtics signed Holiday to a huge four-year, $135 million extension and their payroll going forward has ballooned, via Courtside Buzz.

“The Boston Celtics have a CRAZY HIGH payroll (per season) after extending Jrue Holiday on a 4-year, $135 Million extension! Jaylen Brown – $49.3 Million, Jayson Tatum – $34.8 Million, Jrue Holiday – $38.2 Million, Kristaps Porzingis – $29.2 Million, Derrick White – $19.5 Million. Championship or bust for Boston?” they tweeted.

With that much money committed to five players, this is the group that the franchise is hoping can break their title drought and bring the elusive 18th championship to Boston.

The investment in Holiday and the rest of the core group will be well worth it if results in a championship, but that’s a lot easier said than done considering teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks will be standing in their way come the playoffs.
