With playoff seeding on the line on Sunday, the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks went into overtime at Madison Square Garden, with Jalen Brunson and company barely coming out on top to secure the win and lock in the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

As a result of the loss for the Bulls, Chicago will compete in the Play-In Tournament with hopes of being able to punch their ticket to the NBA playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, the storied NBA franchise will have to win two games in the Play-In Tournament to advance to the first round of the playoffs, which obviously isn’t ideal, especially with the team needing to be back on the court in two days.

During the loss to the Knicks, the Bulls had their starters on the court during overtime, which was a head-scratching move by head coach Billy Donovan, with the team having the season on the line on Tuesday, as John Hollinger of The Athletic pointed out.

Bulls have an elimination game in 48 hours, but sure, let’s send the starters back out for OT.

Ultimately, it’ll be a stretch, to say the least, that the Bulls are able to make a deep run in the postseason if they are able to get there, as Chicago has underperformed all season long and ends their regular season four games below .500 at 39-43.

As for the Knicks, New York has title-contending aspirations and needed to win this game in order to play more games in the playoffs on their home floor of Madison Square Garden, which is a significant advantage for Tom Thibodeau’s squad.
