The Los Angeles Lakers are in a tough spot right now.

Darvin Ham’s has two potential outcomes, and neither is particularly good.

They could — and should — beat the New Orleans Pelicans and then get matched up with the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.

If not, they could be forced to go against the Sacramento Kings or Golden State Warriors for a chance to play the Oklahoma City Thunder.

That’s why sports analyst Craig Carton believes they’re pretty much done right now.

Talking on The Carton Show, he argued that they’ve been very good against the Pelicans this season, so they shouldn’t have much trouble getting past them.

Then again, they would have to go against a team that has beaten them eight straight times dating back to last season, including a four-game sweep in the Western Conference.

If they don’t win, then they could potentially have to go against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors — who have beaten them three out of four times this season — so that’s not much better either.

Whatever the case, it just doesn’t seem like Darvin Ham’s team is going to make a deep postseason run.

They’ve been way too inconsistent this season, and they failed to avoid this situation by deflating towards the end of the campaign.

And while any team involving LeBron James and Anthony Davis should always have a chance to do something special, they might need more than that to get past all the powerhouses in today’s stacked Western Conference.
