Anthony Edwards Sends Clear Message Ahead Of The Playoffs

The Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t rise to the occasion when it mattered the most.

They were at home and just needed to win to have a chance at the No. 1 seed, yet they folded against the Phoenix Suns.

Still, that’s all water under the bridge now.

What’s done is done, and there’s nothing they can do to change that now.

That’s why Anthony Edwards wants to focus on the task at hand and not talk about what happened before.

Even so, he blamed the referees again for their shortcomings, stating that he’s glad that they won’t be able to call some of those fouls in the postseason (via ClutchPoints).

“Those games [are] over with… It’s a whole different game now. The refs can’t call those fouls that [they are] calling.”

Edwards has repeatedly complained about officiating, calling them out for giving Shai Gilgeous-Alexander favorable calls and whatnot.

And while he does have a valid point in terms of the referees constantly calling fouls they wouldn’t normally call in the playoffs, they’re bad for all teams, not just against them.

The Timberwolves have the best defense in the league and enough scoring to get far in the playoffs, and there was no excuse for their loss, even if the Phoenix Suns also had an elite Big Three.

They’re now about to square off in a seven-game series, and the Timberwolves cannot afford to fall short, not after the promising season they had.

This could be a make-or-break postseason series for this core of players, and it’ll be hard to turn the narrative around if they don’t get the job done despite having homecourt advantage.
