The Boston Celtics and Jrue Holiday have had a very good first season together.

Not only did Holiday average 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists during his first season with the Celtics, but the team also claimed the top spot in the East and the best record in the NBA.

Speaking to NBC Sports Boston, Celtics president Brad Stevens talked at length about Holiday, what he brings to the Celtics, and the team’s decision to re-sign him to a new, long-term deal.

Stevens said Holiday immediately fell into the team’s rotation with a strong dedication to winning as much as possible.

He has instantly become part of the team’s winning culture.

For the last few seasons, Holiday was playing with the Milwaukee Bucks.

But the NBA world was shaken up last summer when the Bucks landed Damian Lillard, then of the Portland Trail Blazers.

As part of that deal, Holiday was sent over to the Blazers, although it was assumed that he would be packaged in another trade shortly after that.

After several days, the Celtics were the team that landed Holiday and many fans thought they got the best part of the Lillard trade.

Sure enough, he has earned his spot in the starting lineup of Boston.

Stevens said that Holiday is an extremely “effective” player and that is very evident in just about every game he plays in.

Not only can he create his own looks and points, but he can also find other teammates and has a strong synergy with his fellow Boston players.

For that reason, the Celtics just agreed to a four-year, $135 million contract extension with Holiday, which will keep him as part of the team for years to come.

Clearly, they are very happy with what they see from Holiday.
