Golden State Warriors fans fell asleep deeply disappointed on Tuesday night after their season ended with a 118-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In Tournament.
It was difficult for a number of reasons, and now the Warriors are starting their extra-long summer break.
Brian Windhorst playfully supported those disappointed fans on Wednesday morning, appearing on UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio and saying, “It’s okay that the Warriors don’t win the title every single year.”
Windhorst’s tone suggested that he was poking fun at the team and its fanbase, but followers of the Warriors have grown used to their team achieving postseason greatness so Tuesday’s loss is very hard.

Only a few years ago, the Warriors were a permanent fixture in the playoffs and won four championships.
The roster hasn’t changed much since then, with the same coaching staff and the big three of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.
But their fate has drastically changed and they are now in the habit of missing the postseason.
All joking aside, Windhorst is right when he says that the team doesn’t have to win the championship every year in order to be considered great.
However, they need to at least be competitive.
The problem with the 2023-24 season is that the Warriors haven’t seemed competitive for most of it.
They will have to make some serious adjustments in the months ahead if they want to stand a chance of winning a title again.
This summer will be filled with a lot of introspection and questions for the Warriors and their fans.
They might not win a championship any time soon but they want to at least come close in the years ahead.
