It’s always fun to root for a team that competes with a young quarterback, where you know as a fan you’ve found your long-term answer at quarterback but while he is on his rookie deal, you can allocate the salary cap elsewhere and make a championship push before you inevitably have to give the QB a bag.
It’s always fun while it lasts, but things get tougher once it’s time to actually pay up, and that is what one host is saying is about to happen for one franchise.
On today’s episode of “Up & Adams,” Kay Adams said that it’s a “no-brainer” that the Miami Dolphins should extend quarterback Tua Tagovailoa despite the team’s lack of playoff success, saying that fans need to stop focusing on what he hasn’t done and instead focus on what he has done.

Adams noted that Tagovailoa has had a winning record each year as a starter, led the Dolphins to consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in 20 years, and just led the league in passing.
She said he should not be discredited for missing a playoff game with an injury and then losing one of the coldest games in NFL history to Patrick Mahomes and the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Tua is heading into his fifth-year option and it’s hard to envision the Dolphins doing anything other than extending him.
The team doesn’t have the cap space to work with, but it will have to figure it out one way or another.
