The Miami Heat cannot catch a break.
Not only did they lose their chance to avoid the top-seeded Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, but they also lost Jimmy Butler.
The star G/F was in evident discomfort in their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, struggling from the field and lacking his usual explosiveness and lateral quickness.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that he was diagnosed with an MCL injury, adding that he would undergo an MRI to determine it’s extent.
Now, Charania adds that Butler is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks because of this ailment (via NBA TV).

This injury couldn’t have come at the worst possible time for Erik Spoelstra’s side.
The Heat will have to get by without Butler as they attempt to secure the No. 8 and final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference against the Chicago Bulls.
Then, even if they succeed, they will have to be on the road to go against the team with the best record in the entire league.
The Miami Heat usually save their energy for the postseason, and they don’t seem to care too much about their opponent or whether they have to win multiple games on the road.
Then again, that’s because they have one of the ultimate playoff performers and best two-way players in the league leading them and carrying the load for them.
Unfortuntately, with Butler out, their chances of making a run and upsetting the Celtics are quite close to zero.
