The Miami Heat’s season might be over already.

Erik Spoelstra’s team will look to live another day, taking on the Chicago Bulls for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.

But even if they manage to get past them, they will still be without Jimmy Butler in the first round against the Boston Celtics.

As pointed out by Shams Charania of The Athletic, Butler played the final three quarters of the loss to the Philadelphia 76ers with what is now feared to be an MCL injury.

The expectation is Miami’s Jimmy Butler will be out multiple weeks, sources said. Butler remarkably played the final three quarters vs. 76ers last night with what is now feared to be an MCL injury. https://t.co/dEDMAuuXuN

Charania also claims that Butler will be out for multiple weeks because of this ailment.

Needless to say, that doesn’t bode well for their chances of making a deep postseason run, and the fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on this matter.

So a team 10 games under .500 gets in the playoffs because of the tournament lol

Unfortunately the MRI confirmed probably a Grade II MCL sprain which is a partial tear

-You can’t risks playing on that because of the lack of stability which can lead to more damage or other potential injuries

Huge blow to the Heat. Impressive that he played through it.

Of course, the biggest winners are the Celtics.

They shouldn’t find much trouble getting past the Bulls if they beat the Heat, as they were a sub-.500 team throughout the course of the entire season.

If the Heat beat the Bulls, on the other hand, they would find it quite tough to keep up with Joe Mazzulla’s team without their best player.

They would then go against one of the young playoff teams, either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Orlando Magic, meaning they wouldn’t have to go against a top-tier opponent until the Eastern Conference Finals at the very least.

As for the Heat, barring a miracle, it just doesn’t seem like they’ll be able to keep the ball rolling for much longer.
