Zion Williamson was one of the most electric collegiate basketball players of the past decade.
He was a highly touted player out of Duke, and many believed he had the potential to be the next Lebron James in the NBA, helping turn the New Orleans Pelicans into a perennial powerhouse.
However, Williamson’s NBA career hasn’t panned out as many fans and analysts thought it would.
Williamson has struggled with injuries to this point in his NBA journey, and many have expressed concern with his weight and physical condition.
In a recent conversation with Chris Russo, Charles Barkley spoke about the latter, saying, “He’s lost 25 pounds during the season. You can’t use the season to get into shape.”

While it might be impressive that Williamson has shed some weight during the season, Barkley thinks he should have used the offseason to get right.
After all, he is a professional athlete with an extensive training staff around him who are willing and able to help him with any physical goals he might have.
Another piece to this puzzle is Williamson’s injury history, which some have attributed to his weight and generally unhealthy demeanor.
He suffered a hamstring injury during the Pelicans’ loss in the play-in game and will be unable to participate in the Pelicans’ upcoming matchup with the Sacramento Kings.
This is not ideal for the Pelicans, a team that started the season with heightened expectations of making a significant playoff run.
Can they find a way to win against the Kings without Williamson?
