The season is now over for Trae Young and it’s not clear what the future holds for the talented guard.
After more disappointment from the Atlanta Hawks, there is increasing belief that Young will be parting ways with his team this summer.
But before that possibly happens, Young wants to clear some things up about the sort of player that he is.
Speaking with Brad Rowland, via NBACentral, Young spoke about his view of the game.
Young said:
“People may think that I have to feel like I’m the best player on the team or the first option, I’m not that way. I’ve never been that way. I’m just a guy that’s trying to get everybody involved and win the game. I know when we win, everybody eats.”

There is indeed a lot of criticism about Young as someone who focuses solely on himself during games.
Critics claim that he is more concerned with scoring impressive points than helping his fellow Hawks players.
Young says that simply isn’t true.
The guard may be right when he says this but he also might be trying to improve his value on the market before a very important offseason.
There are several teams interested in landing Young, specifically the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers, but others aren’t sure if they want to sign him.
That is partly because they don’t know how well he will fit in with the lineup.
Will he really share the ball and get everyone involved, like he said?
Or will he play one-man hero ball and complicate offensive plans?
Young still has to prove to critics that he is a true team player and eager to work well alongside others.
He just might not be proving that with the Hawks.
