The Philadelphia Eagles ended their 2023 NFL season with a whimper, faltering down the stretch before losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.
Philadelphia looked discombobulated on both ends of the field and things got worse for the roster in the offseason as both Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox retired from the league.
However, the Eagles appear up the challenge of retooling their roster as they brought in new coaches to support head coach Nick Sirianni.
Meanwhile, young players like DeVonta Smith are preparing for on an increased role on the team ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Smith has been a great No. 2 option behind A.J. Brown, but has the talent and skill to be a quality No. 1 receiver on other teams.
The first-round pick has reportedly been bulking up during the offseason, via Chad Johnson on “Nightcap.”
Chad Ochocinco says DeVonta Smith has been in the weight room bulking up this offseason, and is weighing around 190lbs right now: “I guarantee you when you see him this year, you gonna be like “G*d Damn boy, you been working! He’s about 190, I kid you not.”

Smith entered the NFL listed at 170 pounds, one the biggest knocks on him during his pre-draft process.
Although Smith’s got good downfield speed and route running skills, his slight frame leaves him prone to getting jammed by physical cornerbacks at the line of scrimmage and injury.
However, if Johnson’s assertion is true then Smith should be in a better position to handle more physical football and hopefully last through the entirety of the regular season and playoffs relatively unscathed.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the new bulked up version of Smith can elevate the offense further.
