For months, the 2024 NBA Draft class has been deemed one of the weakest in history.
There’s no clear-cut favorite to go No. 1 overall, and that has been the case dating back a couple of years.
Of course, everything can change in the weeks leading up to the actual event, as scouts and analysts dig deeper into the tape, and the NBA Draft Combine will also give everybody a better look and closer glimpse of what to expect from these players.
This is why Zaccharie Risacher’s announcement, albeit unsurprising, is such a big deal.
According to The Athletic, the potential No. 1 pick has officially submitted the paperwork to enter the upcoming edition of the draft.
Zaccharie Risacher, the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, submitted paperwork to the NBA Monday, he told ESPN.
“It’s always been my dream to get to the best league in the world,” Risacher said.

Risacher is a 19-year-old combo forward.
Standing at 6-foot-10, he could continue France’s run of No. 1 picks after Victor Wembanyama went first-overall last season.
He was solid in the LNB Pro A, logging 9.7 points, 3.5 boards, and 1.0 dimes on 42.6/34.1/72.1 shooting splits over 27 appearances.
Just like Luka Doncic, Wembanyama, and most European players, he comes with plenty of experience, playing as a professional since 2021.
As a matter of fact, he has more experience than every other player from this class, making 60 appearances across multiple competitions to date.
The NBA Draft, which will take place on June 26, is one of the most important nights of the season, so even if this class is underwhelming at first glance, the fans should be very excited about guys like Risacher and their prospects as NBA players.
