The Minnesota Timberwolves kicked off their postseason in a big way on Saturday, taking down the Phoenix Suns, 120-95, and earning a huge victory at home.

On Monday’s episode of “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce said that the performance of Anthony Edwards was beyond impressive, especially against Kevin Durant of the Suns.

“We might be seeing a changing of the guard right in front of us,” Pierce said.

Edwards was on fire during Saturday’s game, scoring 33 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists over the Suns.

He led his team and played with ferocious, unparalleled energy from beginning to end.

At one point in the game, Edwards was caught on camera chirping at Durant, his long-time idol and one of the icons of the league.

For Pierce and many other people, this was indeed a changing of the guard moment, a glimpse at the new generation of the NBA taking over from the older one.

Of course, the work isn’t done for the Timberwolves, not by a long-shot.

They have to win three more games before they can move on to the next round, and Durant and his team won’t make that easy.

The Suns may have lost on Saturday but Durant was looking good with 31 points and 7 rebounds.

Now that they were easily defeated in Game 1, the Suns could come back stronger than ever in Game 2, ready for a fight.

How will Edwards respond to that?

For the last few seasons, people have called Edwards the future face of the Timberwolves and the NBA.

This year’s playoffs will be a chance for him to prove that he is.

It started on Saturday night and could continue on Tuesday during Game 2.
