The Denver Broncos made a tough decision to start the offseason,
After seeing what Russell Wilson did over the last two years as their starting quarterback, they decided to cut their losses and move on from him.
Wilson clearly wasn’t the answer for this team, who is now back to the drawing board, hoping to find a difference-maker at the position.
Before trading for Zach Wilson, many fans and analysts believed the Broncos would go after a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Now that Wilson is on the roster, that attitude has slightly shifted, as Chris Broussard calls out in a recent segment of “First Things First” on FS1.
When discussing how he thinks the Broncos should handle this situation, Broussard said, “I think the Broncos will start Zach Wilson, and they should draft Shedeur Sanders.”

Sanders was slated to come out and join this year’s draft class, but he has decided to go back to school.
To Broussard, it makes much more sense for the Broncos to ride with Wilson for one season, and if things don’t work out, they will likely be in a position to draft Sanders in 2025.
Trading for Wilson was one of the only options for the Broncos heading into 2024, given their current situation with Russell Wilson’s contract.
The AFC West has been a difficult division to compete in throughout the Patrick Mahomes era, leaving little room for teams like the Broncos to make any headway.
Having a strong quarterback would help their cause immensely, something this team has not had for several years.
