With just a couple of days to go until the NFL Draft officially kicks off in Detroit, there will be rumors and reports of possible trades firing off left and right.

One recent report out there is that, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Las Vegas Raiders tried to trade with the Washington Commanders and move up to the No. 2 overall slot.

This trade attempt was made even after Commanders GM Adam Peters said the team was going to stand pat at No. 2 and make their pick.

Not surprisingly, the #Raiders are among the teams who tested the #Commanders on moving out of 2, even after Washington GM Adam Peters told the media the team planned to stick and pick, sources say. https://t.co/SgeGbVeGBU

This kind of report is not a surprise, especially if you consider the fact that the Raiders are in desperate need of a new quarterback.

With USC’s Caleb Williams being the odds-on favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears, that leaves LSU Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as the presumed next prospect to go.

With Daniels’ connection to Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce from their days at Arizona State, perhaps Las Vegas is trying to reunite the two.

Washington is seemingly very happy with the idea of taking Daniels, which would mean that the Raiders will have to look elsewhere to trade up if that is indeed what they would still like to do.

Maybe a team like the Atlanta Falcons or Tennessee Titans would be interested in adding more picks to their draft as a result of agreeing to terms on a trade.

Las Vegas should have a backup plan in case they cannot get up to grab Daniels.

Will that be Michael Penix Jr. or J.J. McCarthy?
