The Dallas Cowboys are heading into a make-or-break season with both head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott in contract years, and owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that things have to get better this year.
Jones and the Cowboys didn’t do much in free agency, placing even more pressure on the draft, and Jones had a strong message ahead of Thursday’s extravaganza.
Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken posted an excerpt from Jones’ recent press conference, quoting Jones as saying: “We’re all in with these young guys coming in. We’re all in with this draft.”

That is a simple and effective message from Jones that leaves nothing open to interpretation.
The Cowboys essentially punted on free agency, watching multiple franchise pillars on both sides of the ball sign elsewhere, including Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Tyron Smith, Tony Pollard, Dante Fowler Jr., and more.
The team’s biggest signing was bringing in Eric Kendricks on a 1-year, $3 million deal.
With a free agent period that one-sided, it puts added emphasis on the draft, and the Cowboys have quite a few holes to fill.
Dallas also does not have a fourth-round pick but has an extra pick in the seventh round to bring in some depth.
The Cowboys are first on the clock with the 24th pick and it’s unclear what direction they are leaning.
Left tackle and wide receiver are two areas where the team could use an upgrade, but you never know with the Cowboys.
We can’t wait for Thursday.
