Cam Newton burst on the scene in his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers.
He is often viewed as one of the most electrifying college football players in history and continued that dominance into the NFL.
The Panthers were one of the best teams in the NFC in the early days of Newton’s career, and they became a fun team for fans across the league to tune into.
Newton recently appeared on “Club Shay Shay” to talk about his time in the league, highlighting one of his teammates, Steve Smith Sr.
He called Smith a “pit bull” and a “shark,” adding, “If he sensed any blood, Smitty is coming after you.”

Newton believes that Smith was the ultimate competitor, hungry to make an impact on the field in whatever way possible.
He would attack defenders if necessary, which made him one of Newton’s favorite targets in the three years they played together.
During this time, Newton and Smith connected for 3,313 yards and 15 touchdowns, an indication of how strong this duo was.
Newton might not have had many star players around him early on in his career, but Smith was a player who helped him reach the next level as an NFL quarterback.
While he was a fan favorite early on in Carolina, a switch seemed to flip for Newton, and he wasn’t the same after some injuries sidelined him during the 2019 season.
He did make an appearance on the New England Patriots in 2020 and came back to the Panthers in 2021, but he was unable to recapture the magic from early in his career.
It will be interesting to see what Newton does next, and if he’ll try to make an NFL comeback.
