The NFL Draft often leads teams to make some mistakes.
Desperation can make GMs overpay or take risks they wouldn’t take otherwise.
However, every now and then, those bold moves seem to pay off, making them look like geniuses.
Other times, those risks end up costing them their jobs.
Needless to say, this edition of the draft won’t be the exception to that rule.
According to NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN, the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings are currently the most aggressive teams trying to trade up and get to the top three (Via Pat Leonard).
Michael Penix Jr. as an option at 6? @DanGrazianoESPN puts the Huskies QB on the table for the #Giants in the top 10, potentially, in @espn last-minute draft buzz story (with Maye as the QB to trade up for) https://t.co/HBMMur5Sdr pic.twitter.com/hZsNehOKW4

The report also states that the Giants are more than determined — if not desperate — to leave Thursday’s first round with a new franchise quarterback.
As a matter of fact, the Giants could even lean towards taking Washington star Michael Penix Jr. as high as No. 6.
They’re reportedly high on him, and while he’s projected to be a late-first or early-second-round selection, it seems like the Giants are more than ready to move on from Daniel Jones.
As for the Vikings, they already have Sam Darnold under contract, but he’s not a long-term solution at the position, which is why they’re trying to get their hands on J.J. McCarthy.
The New England Patriots are expected to take Drake Maye at No. 3, but they’ve teased trading down if the right offer comes.
Whether the Giants, Vikings, or anybody else will be willing or able to meet their steep asking price remains to be seen.
