The Dallas Cowboys had plenty of areas to address in the NFL Draft, but they failed to do it.
Jerry Jones claimed that he would go all-in in the offseason, yet he let some key players go, didn’t sign guys to contract extensions, and have several holes on the roster to fill.
That’s why HC Mike McCarthy wants them to add depth to the running backs room, which is perhaps their most glaring need right now (Via ProFootballTalk).
“My God, I hope we can get one of these running backs,” McCarthy said. “It would be great to add it to the room. But I don’t believe that these draft picks are just absolutely starters. I don’t succumb to an 11-man roster because it’s not the reality of how this thing works. I think the fact that we’re in a 17-game schedule, it’s even more exemplified. It’s going to take them all to get to where we want to go to.”

The Cowboys didn’t show much of an interest in keeping Tony Pollard, who failed to step up as the primary back and ended up leaving to replace Derrick Henry with the Tennessee Titans.
They signed veteran journeyman Royce Freeman, who joins an RB room consisting of Deuce Vaughn and Rico Dowdle.
This draft class isn’t particularly rich at running back, especially at the top of the board, but there should still be plenty of options available for them to get in the latter rounds.
The Cowboys aren’t a better team now than they were one year ago, and that’s worrisome, especially after how things ended last season.
Some think Jerry Jones is ready to pull the plug and go back to the drawing board if things don’t go well for them this season, and judging by what we’ve seen thus far, he’s not exactly giving them much of a chance to get over the hump and get better.
