JJ Redick has had an impressive post-NBA playing career so far, as he has become one of the best studio analysts in the business, is now one of the biggest color commentators on big games, and also has multiple podcasts, one of which he recently launched with LeBron James.
He is now up for another big job, as he has emerged as a serious candidate to take over as a head coach of a floundering NBA franchise.
A new report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania said that Redick is a “serious candidate” for the Charlotte Hornets’ head coaching position and that he could land a second interview soon.

Fans didn’t know if Redick would try to get into coaching given how much he has going on with his media and broadcasting career, but it’s easy to see why he’d be a good coach.
His knowledge and passion for the game are obvious when listening to him speak in any format, and he has been a breath of fresh air to the sports media space given his disdain for cheap hot takes and narrative-driven conversations that aren’t based on experience or facts.
The Hornets have been a mess in recent years and parted ways with head coach Steve Clifford after this past year’s disastrous 21-61 campaign.
There have been locker room concerns, injury problems, and off-court problems that have held this team back in recent years, and Redick could be the young, positive, and stabilizing force the team needs to right the ship.
