With the Phoenix Suns having arguably the most talented star trio in the NBA, with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal leading the way, the team was thought to be a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Unfortunately, the team rarely had all three of these stars on the floor at the same time due to injuries, which resulted in setting up a first-round playoff matchup with the upstart Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although the Suns’ experience and veteran leadership were thought to give them an edge over the Timberwolves, the opposite has happened after two games played, with Minnesota sporting a 2-0 series lead and Phoenix having a bleak outlook for the rest of the first round.

With the Timberwolves crushing the Suns by 25 in Game 1 and beating Phoenix by 12 in Game 2, the Suns haven’t lived up to expectations, which former NBA head coach Mark Jackson has expressed disappointment about via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“Disappointed in what they’ve displayed the first two games,” Jackson said.

After two games, the Timberwolves have proven they are more than ready to make a deep run in the playoffs this season while shoveling dirt on the veteran-led Suns, who might have to go back to the drawing board in terms of whether this star trio can work together.

As of right now, the Suns look like they are headed for the sweep, with the Timberwolves proving to be the much better all-around team and taking advantage of the return of Karl-Anthony Towns.
