Last summer, when the Phoenix Suns traded for star guard Bradley Beal and added him to a roster that already had Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, many felt they assembled something that resembled a superteam.

In fact, many people picked them to reach the NBA Finals and felt they had a real shot at winning the world championship.

But for numerous reasons, the Suns underachieved during the regular season, and they now face an 0-2 series deficit versus the young and hungry Minnesota Timberwolves.

On FS1’s “Speak,” Joy Taylor blamed the Suns’ “big 3” of Beal, Durant, and Booker for their predicament.

Taylor pointed out that Phoenix won each of their three regular-season games against Minnesota, but things have flipped.

While Durant has played decently, Booker has struggled with his shooting while Beal has averaged a meager 14.5 points in these first two games.

As Taylor said, the Suns are built in a way where they have to win by outscoring opponents, but the problem is that they don’t do that consistently.

A big reason is they don’t have a real point guard who can consistently push the pace and get them to play fast-break basketball, which is an absolute necessity when a team tries to win a championship with offense.

Now Phoenix has an additional problem with the injury to Grayson Allen, one of their few non-stars who can be counted on to consistently put points on the board.

This series will move to Arizona for Game 3 on Friday, and the Suns will have an opportunity to change its tenor and give themselves a chance to knock off Anthony Edwards and crew.
