Many Boston Celtics fans were stunned by their team’s loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
And while he is not a particular fan of the Celtics, Stephen A. Smith was also surprised by the defeat.
On Thursday’s “First Take,” Smith said that he was “shocked” to see the Heat beat the Celtics, especially in Boston.

In Smith’s mind, he envisioned the Celtics blowing the Heat out and earning a strong 2-0 lead in the series.
He then thought that the Heat could earn a win at home in Miami but didn’t think they’d do that on Wednesday night.
Miami’s defeat of Boston wasn’t expected by many.
They were wildly dedicated and powerful for the entire game and played at a tempo and pace that the Celtics had a hard time with.
Plus, they were shooting well for the entirety of the game, especially from beyond the three-point line.
That is usually Boston’s secret weapon but on Wednesday night, the three-point shot belonged to Miami.
In the end, there were a number of reasons that limited Boston’s power and increased Miami’s chances.
They walked away with a massive victory and a morale booster ahead of Game 3.
The Celtics have now lost their momentum and will attempt to win it back in the upcoming days.
They were the favorites heading into Game 2 but that ended up hurting them.
Now they will have to play as the underdogs, especially because Game 3 will be held in Miami.
When the playoffs began, nearly everyone thought that the Celtics had the best chance of reaching the NBA Finals.
Those chances were diminished on Wednesday night, but they are still favorites to go all the way.
However, if they can’t win Game 3 in Miami, their chances of being champions again will drop even more.
