For years now, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has been hailed as one of the best offensive players in the league.

But during Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers, Doncic did more than just score well; he defended well too.

On Thursday’s episode of “First Take,” Brian Windhorst said he was very impressed by the defensive prowess of Doncic during the game.

“I couldn’t believe the level of defense that Luka played in Game 2,” Windhorst said, noting that he limited Clippers players and was contesting a lot more than usual.

Is Doncic starting a new chapter of his career at the perfect time?

No one has ever questioned Doncic’s ability to score very well and he has made a name for himself as one of the best scorers in the league.

In fact, he led the league in 2023-24 with an average of 33.9 points per game.

But there have been some criticisms about him over the years, including his lack of defense.

Along with that, others have said that he complains to the referees too often and doesn’t have a good handle on his temper.

During Game 2, he was showing that he’s capable of more than what people expect from him.

This is great news for the Mavericks and very bad news for the Clippers.

The series is now tied at 1-1 and it will head to Dallas, where Doncic and his team might continue to impress in front of a home-court crowd.

If Doncic can keep scoring and defending extremely well, the Mavericks could earn the next two wins at home, giving them a huge advantage before the series moves back to Los Angeles.
