Michael Penix Jr. is one of the most polarizing prospects entering the NFL Draft.
The arm talent is significant and undeniable, and he might as well be the best passer of all prospects entering the league.
Nonetheless, there are also a few concerns about his game.
For starters, he’s not exactly young, as he spent plenty of time in college.
Notably, that’s a byproduct of the other major red flag, as he used all of his years of eligibility because he suffered multiple major injuries, especially earlier in his career.
Penix proved that he could stay healthy and dominated last season, excelling in the pocket.
Nonetheless, he rarely took off and made plays with his feet, which is another knock on his game.
However, he believes he’s going to be capable of extending plays and picking up yards with his legs if needed.
Talking to Kay Adams for her “Up & Adams” show, the University of Washington star stated that he showed that he could also run multiple times, especially in the playoffs, adding that he’s fully confident in his abilities and that all the tools will be there when he needs them.
Michael Penix Jr. isn’t too concerned about the noise surrounding his “lack of running ability”…
“I know what I got in my bag… all the tools are going to be out whenever they need to be.”

Truth be told, we’ve seen countless quarterbacks find plenty of success in this league despite not being dual-threat or particularly mobile.
Also, staying in the pocket actually helped him stay healthy.
At the end of the day, this is a passer’s league, and Penix can pass the the football at an elite level.
Of course, modern-day quarterbacks are also expected to be playmakers with their legs, but then, they’re often criticized for not being good-enough passers, so perhaps it’ll be better to just let Penix’s game speak for itself.
