The Chicago Bears started the 2024 NFL Draft with the most unsurprising pick of the night.
Caleb Williams has been rumored to go to the Bears for several months, making their pick a formality.
While Williams might have been an easy decision for the Bears, they immediately had to hone in on their next pick, which happened at No. 9 overall.
There was speculation about who they would take, but they ultimately decided on Rome Odunze, the former Washington wide receiver.
Williams appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio shortly after Odunze was drafted, highlighting his thoughts on the Bears’ selection.
“I’m really excited about it, to have him on the team with me as my WR and [I’m] ready to go,” Williams said.

Williams seems excited to work with Oduzne, who was one of the top receiver prospects heading into this year’s draft.
With Odunze’s selection in mind, Williams will have many tools at his disposal heading into his rookie year.
The Bears’ offense will now consist of Williams, Odunze, Keenan Allen, D.J. Moore, D’Andre Swift, and Cole Kmet.
The first-overall pick in the draft doesn’t typically have this many solid players at their disposal, which should put Williams in a great position to succeed in Year 1.
Betting odds already have Williams as a heavy favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, which seems to be a likely possibility knowing his supporting cast.
The Bears have struggled to find their footing in recent history, but adding players like Odunze and Williams gives the fanbase hope for the team’s future.
