The Green Bay Packers made one of the biggest signings of the offseason when they got Josh Jacobs.
They also have a solid No. 2 in AJ Dillon, who has excelled as a pass-catcher, to back up perhaps the best four-down back in the league.
Nonetheless, you can never have too much depth at running back, which is why the Packers got a true masher in the third round by picking USC star MarShawn Lloyd.
When asked about him, HC Matt LaFleur claimed that he’s going to give the team a ‘different flavor’ out of the backfield (via The Coachspeak Index.
“I think he gives us an element out of the backfield… Just gives us a little different flavor, maybe,” LaFleur said.

After spending three years at South Carolina, Lloyd started last season for the Trojans.
He’s an elite cutter and a shifty guy who can explode vertically and laterally, and his quick twitch helps him find big gaps for even bigger gains.
He’s never been touted as a three-down back or a guy who’s going to be a workhorse by any means, but he can become an immediate factor because of his creativity and quick burst.
The Packers have sky-high expectations for their team in 2024.
They were the youngest team to make the playoffs last season and are clearly ahead of schedule, and with Matt LaFleur’s creativity on offense, Lloyd could be in for some highlight plays in his rookie season, even if he’s not on the field often.
