The Phoenix Suns fell painfully short of all expectations and hopes this season.
The team had great aspirations and was seen as the next big squad in the Western Conference after all the changes they made last summer.
But instead of a championship ring, they only received an early dismissal from the playoffs and now there is a lot of speculation about the team’s future.
According to NBACentral, via Hoops Wire, some people close to the organization don’t have much faith in Suns owner Mat Ishbia.
“It’s like looney tunes around here. It’s felt unstable since (Ishbia) arrived. He’s a good guy and everything, I think, but he’s just very involved. Too involved,” the source said.
They went on: “I know he played (college basketball at Michigan State), but I’d venture to say he has no idea what he’s doing when it comes to basketball. Yet he’s making a lot of the big decisions.”

It’s never good to hear that the owner of a team “has no idea” what they are doing.
If true, this is clearly a major recipe for disaster and could lead to years of lackluster performances from the franchise.
When Ishbia bought the team, he made it obvious that he was going to be very hands-on and make big changes.
Since the start of last season, the team has added Kevin Durant, lost Chris Paul and a slew of other players, fired and hired a head coach, and also acquired Bradley Beal.
Ishbia has approved a lot of spending in hopes of turning this team into a super-strong one that dominates the West.
2023-24 was plagued by injury problems but the issues with Phoenix go well beyond that.
They never figured out how to make this roster work.
All the money in the world couldn’t turn them into true playoff contenders and that’s very concerning.
Will Ishbia see the error of his ways and perhaps change his role in the months ahead?
The future of the team may depend on it.
