The Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks have something in common.
They have great players, but they’re not good enough to win an NBA championship.
However, they’re also in different positions.
The Hawks have young players with high trade value, whereas the Lakers have a lot of role players and two aging superstars.
Even so, perhaps they could help each other out.
According to a report by The Athletic, Rob Pelinka could pursue Trae Young, who’s been tangled up with multiple trade rumors dating back years.
The Lakers are eyeing a third weapon to bolster their lineup.

The former Oklahoma Sooner is a Klutch Sports client, just like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, so there are evident ties there.
Also, with several reports of Young’s behavior and demeanor rubbing his teammates and staff members the wrong way, they might choose to keep Dejounte Murray over him.
The Lakers were rumored to be in the mix to trade for Murray this season, but they wound up keeping D’Angelo Russell after he got hot midway through the season, which, in hindsight, proved to be a big mistake — again.
Russell is now likely to opt out of his contract and become someone else’s problem next season.
Young’s offensive talents are more than evident, although his fit next to LeBron is somewhat questionable.
His tenure alongside Murray showed that he wasn’t very efficient off the ball, and he might not like the idea of standing in a corner or being a spot-up shooter.
Then again, the Lakers have always looked to stack talent, and he might be the best player available in the offseason.
