Over the last three NFL seasons, the NFL has made the transition from 16 regular-season games to 17.
But, there are some pundits out there who believe that the NFL could eventually make it to 20 games in the regular season.
One of those pundits is ESPN Chicago radio co-host J-Hood.
Here is what Hood had to say about the possibility of the NFL going forward with a 20-game regular season in the future.
“There’s going to be a 20-game or more season because there’s too much money to be made…I watch NFL games to get a perspective around the league, but I’m not locked into every NFL game,” Hood said Thursday morning on ESPN 1000.

If the league was to make the move to a 20-game regular season, it would not be for a long time.
The NFL didn’t change to a 16-game regular season until 1978.
That means it was over 40 years before they made the switch to a 17-game regular season.
The owners and players would need to sign off on the new agreement, which, especially for the players, might not be something they are willing to do.
The NFL season is a super long process.
Players deal with injuries week in and week out.
Also, everyone needs a break to regain their health and take time away from the game.
Currently, the NFL regular season is 18 weeks.
That doesn’t take into account the five postseason weeks.
20 regular-season games would be a wild scenario that seemingly wouldn’t happen for a long, long time.
