The 2024 NFL Draft was something of a whirlwind.

There were several unexpected picks throughout the weekend, including the Atlanta Falcons’ selection of Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 overall.

Penix was expected to go in the first round, so it wasn’t necessarily a surprise that he was a first-round pick, but his draft position shocked many in the industry.

The New York Jets experienced a similar phenomenon in the draft, as many anticipated them taking tight end Brock Bowers.

While Bowers is an impressive prospect, they ended up taking an offensive lineman in the first round instead, hoping to help better protect Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets were slated to make the playoffs under Aaron Rodgers’ tutelage,  but with his Achilles injury in mind, his season fell a bit short.

Protecting him with an improved offensive line is paramount to the team’s success.

While there is plenty of excitement surrounding their new-look offensive line, the Jets did seemingly need to add another receiver into the mix.

They drafted Malachi Corley in the the third round of this year’s draft, which caused Jordan Schultz to sing his praises on “Speak,” on FS1.

“This kid is Deebo Samuel 2.0,” Jordan Schultz said.

Schultz is generally well cued-into the nuances of situations like this one, so it will be interesting to see if any additional correspondence comes from this.

Corley presented as a great NFL player during his time in college, but because he went to a smaller school, he wasn’t as highly touted as some fans would have liked.

Can he turn into a great pro for the Jets, as Schultz indicates?
