Last year, Kyrie Irving signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
That came after weeks of rumors about him moving to several teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers.
Many people thought he’d fight to once again play with his friend LeBron James.
Speaking with FOX Sports, via NBACentral, Irving said that he did indeed contemplate playing with James again but it didn’t work out because of the front offices.
“Everything was considered. He’s a great friend of mine, a great brother of mine. We obviously played together [in Cleveland]. Everybody knows our history,” Irving said.
He added, “But there were so many different factors in between. When it comes to business decisions, you have to ask the GMs, the presidents why certain things didn’t work out.”

Irving is a massively talented point guard and could have added a ton of power to the Lakers’ backcourt.
But reports from inside Los Angeles said that the front office wasn’t interested in adding Irving, his contract, and his baggage.
Instead, they had faith in the roster they were building, featuring D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves.
Now, more than a year later, things have changed.
The Lakers were eliminated in the opening round, while Irving has been doing spectacular work with the Mavericks.
And as the offseason begins, there are rumors that the Lakers are again looking for a reliable point guard.
It’s very unlikely that Irving and James will ever play together on the same team but Los Angeles fans are wondering what could have been.
Would they have found a level of success similar to their time together in Cleveland?
