The Los Angeles Lakers said goodbye to head coach Darvin Ham on Friday, ending his two-year tenure with the team and starting the search for his replacement.
Among the names being tossed around as possible new coach is Tyronn Lue, who is currently leading the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers were also eliminated from the playoffs on Friday night and Lue was asked about the Lakers wanting him.
“I don’t really have a comment on that,” Lue said, according to a video shared by Awful Announcing.
He continued, “I mean, it’s great to be wanted. That’s a really good feeling. But like I said, I want to be here. And hopefully we’re able to solidify that.”

Shortly after reports leaked saying that the Lakers were interested in Lue, other reports came out stating that the Clippers were hoping to sign a new deal with the coach.
Apparently, the race to sign Lue is on.
The talented coach has been in charge of the Clippers since 2020 and has an 184-134 record with the team.
However, he also has a history with LeBron James, as he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their historic championship win in 2016.
Could his relationship with James influence LA’s attempts to sign him?
It sounds like Lue is happy leading the Clippers and both sides want to continue a partnership.
Yet, if the Lakers can offer him a better deal and win him away from the Clippers, he definitely wouldn’t have to move far.
At this point, it’s hard to tell which team has a better chance at a championship right now because both the Lakers and Clippers are struggling.
So, which will get Lue next year and in the seasons that follow?
That is one of the biggest questions floating around the league as this offseason begins.
