For years, Boston Celtics fans have flooded social media with complaints about the way the media and other fan bases portray Jayson Tatum.
Everybody acknowledges that Tatum is a very good player, even one of the best in the league.
However, he’s never been considered the best young player or one of the next faces of the game.
That’s not the case with several other stars, including Anthony Edwards.
With that in mind, NBA analyst Jason Timpf made a case for Edwards for being a better player than Tatum (Via The Volume).
“I would take Anthony Edwards over Jayson Tatum right now in a heartbeat, no questions asked,” Timpf said.

He stated that he would take Edwards over Tatum every single day of the week, adding that he’s just a better basketball player.
Timpf believes that they both have similarities in the sense that they both settle for pull-up jump shots at times, the only difference being that Edwards knocks them down in the playoffs, whereas Tatum not so much.
He also thinks that Edwards is a better downhill athlete, not to mention his overall demeanor and attitude to take over a basketball game on both ends of the floor.
Edwards is a vocal leader, and a guy who’s going to command the basketball when the game is on the line and will take pride in guarding the opposition’s best player.
He has also led an ever-struggling franchise to this stage, whereas Tatum has always had stacked teams.
At the end of the day, there’s no need to compare great talents, but just like Timpf said, the ship may have sailed for Tatum as to become better than guys like Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, or Luka Doncic.
For Edwards, however, that’s still in the cards.
