It’s been a busy offseason full of change for the Buffalo Bills, who tweaked their offense in a huge way after falling short in the playoffs.
For months, there were rumors that Stefon Diggs was growing unhappy in Buffalo and it was hard to ignore his passive-aggressive social media comments and reactions from people close to him like his brother Trevon.
The Bills also knew that Diggs’ discontent was causing a distraction, so they wound him shipping off to the Houston Texans before the 2024 NFL Draft.
Buffalo then addressed their wide receiver room by taking Keon Coleman No. 33 overall to seemingly replace Diggs.
However, the Bills continued to add to the wideout position after they signed Chase Claypool after the draft.
Claypool isn’t nearly as talented or as good as Diggs but he did take the star receiver’s number, via NFL Jersey Numbers.

Numbers get passed around all the time in the league by virtue of the volume of incoming players, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Diggs’ number will now go to another receiver on the Bills’ roster.
Normally, teams might try to assign other numbers to players out of respect for legends or former star players, but in this case, it looks like Buffalo had no qualms about reassigning No. 14 to Claypool.
Claypool was considered a talented prospect coming out of college but has yet to put it together.
However, perhaps working with Josh Allen will unlock him and he can become a meaningful contributor in Buffalo.
