To say that LeBron James is the greatest player in Cleveland Cavaliers history wouldn’t only be obvious, but it would also be a huge understatement.

James changed franchise history by leading the Cavs to their first and only NBA championship.

That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that Sunday’s win gave them their very first playoff series win without LeBron James since the 1992-93 season (via ESPN Bet).

James entered the league in the 2003 NBA Draft, and it didn’t take long before he took the Cavaliers to the postseason, something he did over and over.

Then, he left to join the Miami Heat, spending four years in South Beach while the Cavaliers mightily struggled to get back on their feet.

James had a glorious homecoming four years later and led the team back to the NBA Finals, even capping off the greatest comeback in playoff history by taking down the 2016 Golden State Warriors on the biggest stage.

The Cavs went right back to the Finals two more times, but to no avail, and James wound up leaving again to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

It took them all this time to get back on their feet, and now, led by Donovan Mitchell, they’ve finally moved past the first round.

Now, the red-hot Boston Celtics await, and it’ll take a LeBron James-ish effort to take them down.
